Welcome back to our Face of Rare Moments where we share inspiring stories from the women who come through our Havant Boudoir Studio doors. This month, we are pleased to reveal Sue’s boudoir journey and the reasons why she decided to dismiss her nerves and celebrate herself.
Let Sue tell you her story in her own words…
Sue’s Boudoir Story
“In the past four years, I have had major surgery, seen my marriage breakdown, moved out on my own for the first time, gained a degree and found a new career. I turned 40 in December and with four boys and a new partner I decided that I deserved something to make me feel good about myself again.
“I have always wanted to do a pin-up shoot of some kind but as a bigger woman, I have always been very self-conscious. I always look at plus size models and feel I could never ever look half as good as them.
“I saw an advert for Rare Moments on Facebook and decided to go for it….
“Strangely enough, I was never nervous—just excited. There has always been a bit of an exhibitionist buried deep inside me and I love to be told I look good (let’s face it, who doesn’t?).
“I enjoyed my shoot immensely and felt relaxed as I was looked after by two ladies on the shoot. When it came to deciding what props and clothes to bring, I decided to stick to things that were “me”. I had wanted to wear corsets and stockings but knowing I would be uncomfortable made me rethink, as I’m sure my discomfort would probably show in my face.
“So, I opted for a few different relaxed items and decided to use the blanket they had, which was definitely the right choice. I had no idea what to expect from the actual photos and was more nervous about seeing them than the shoot itself. I was so surprised and delighted by the results, they were everything I could have ever of dreamed. My partner even got a bit teary eyed, not that he will admit it!
“So, thank you Team Rare Moments! You have made me look and feel like one of the models I have always aspired to be. I have new confidence and will start my 40s with a positive body image and a smile on my face. And I would love to do more, especially playful pictures and some retro styles, so that will be my next venture!
“If you have even considered it for a moment…do it! I promise you will not regret it. ❤️”
Sue, you look good—and don’t ever forget it! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing story.
